I had the chance to speak to them following their nominations for Best Performance and Best Supporting Performance at the BAFTAs. Because while Sean Gunn and Marvel Studios have Rocket's motion capture work down to a science, the kinks weren't worked out prior to filming the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. That wouldn’t be possible without the talent of Jon McLaren, the actor behind Peter Quill, AKA Star-Lord, and Alex Weiner, who plays Rocket Raccoon. Well, this is an interesting peek behind the curtain. And since the formula worked, we've stuck with it for four movies. And lo and behold, that's what ended up really working. I read Rocket in the first table read that we did, and then when we started rehearsals, I just got down on my hands and knees and started doing it from the character's height and position. Marvel Studios brought the first footage from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. When I arrived in London just about a week later, it all moved really fast.
